March 28th 2026 Upholstery workshop in New Orleans!
Come learn hands-on introductory upholstery techniques from acclaimed upholsterer Nicole Crowder of Nicole Crowder Upholstery with a three-hour workshop in New Orleans!
The class is set up as a beginners/introductory workshop to upholstery to ensure you’ll be able to strip and reupholster a simple chair, ottoman or bench within the three hour structure. No prior experience is needed.
DATE: Saturday, March 28th, 2026
TIME: 11am-2pm
LOCATION: Merchant House
What is included in registration:
-All tools and materials needed to work.
-All padding material.
-Multiple fabrics to choose from. (Please note: if you would like a certain aesthetic for your chair, please feel free to bring any fabrics of your choosing.)
What you should bring:
-Your own small chair or furniture item to be worked on.
*Please email Nicole a photo of your item for approval no later than one week prior to the class at crowder.nicole@gmail.com.
PLEASE NOTE: Your intended furniture item MUST be pre-approved ahead of the workshop, otherwise it may not be permitted. You are welcome to bring your own fabric as well, but fabric will be provided for the class.
-Goggles or gloves are optional.
Chairs NOT permitted:
Large, overstuffed chairs that require more advanced technique, time or tools. Chairs that need extensive wood repair. This class is structured as an introduction to upholstery workshop. Chair cushions that require sewing will not be permitted as we will not have sewing machines during this class. Please email Nicole at crowder.nicole@gmail.com a photo of your chair prior to the class to ensure it is approved.
One furniture item per person, although you may work with another person on the same piece together.

Can I register with a friend?
Absolutely! These classes are great for attending with a friend or a family member. Each of you will need to purchase a ticket, but you are welcome to partner up and work on the same chair or piece of furniture together.
What if I signed up and I’m no longer able to attend the class?
If you are no longer able to attend the session, you can transfer your ticket to someone else who may be able to attend, or if there is availability in the future class you can move your date to that one if it is more convenient. This option is not guaranteed.
Do You Give Refunds?
No. Tickets are nonrefundable but they are transferable if you are no longer able to attend. If your furniture item is not approved a refund is not provided. Please ensure your furniture item is approved no less than one week before the class.
What if I have never approached upholstery before? Can I still attend?
Absolutely! These classes are structured for beginners who have never approached upholstery or who may have approached it lightly in the past. No prior experience is needed.
Will I get to keep my chair that I reupholster in the class?
Yes! For any item that you bring you will be able to take that home with you.
I need a chair. Can you help me source where to find one?
Absolutely. I’m happy to help identify thrift stores, vintage markets, or can assist with online searches as well.
